JustUpdateOnline.com – Despite their persistent reign at the summit of international music charts, the global sensation BTS is distancing itself from the narrative of competition with Western pop superstars. The group recently clarified that they do not view artists such as Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, or Bruno Mars as rivals, even as their latest musical endeavors continue to break records.

In a recent cover story for Rolling Stone, the group’s leader, RM, addressed the frequent comparisons to the industry’s biggest names. Even with their newest album, Arirang, maintaining the number one position on the Billboard 200 for three weeks, the 31-year-old artist remained remarkably grounded. RM dismissed the idea of a rivalry, speaking with high regard for his peers by labeling them as superior artists and describing BTS as merely a "boy band from Korea."

This humble outlook reflects a significant shift in the group’s internal philosophy. Suga opened up about his past, admitting that he used to be intensely competitive with other musicians. However, he explained that the pressure to constantly achieve peak performance eventually impacted the members’ physical and emotional well-being. Now, the group prioritizes the enjoyment of their craft over the pursuit of accolades, noting that they have learned to embrace a more relaxed and fulfilling creative process as they mature.

The conversation also revisited the long-standing speculation regarding a potential appearance at the Super Bowl halftime show. RM suggested that the global rise of South Korean culture—evidenced by the success of films like Parasite and the worldwide K-pop phenomenon—might eventually pave the way for such an opportunity. While expressing a dream to perform on that stage one day, Jimin added that the invitation remains at the discretion of the NFL, noting that they can only participate if officially asked.

The group’s commercial power remains undisputed. Arirang, their first full-length studio album in six years, continues to see strong sales, while its lead single, "Swim," recently secured the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

On the live performance front, BTS recently launched the opening leg of their Arirang world tour at Goyang Stadium. Although the first concert on April 9 was hampered by torrential rain—leading to visibility complaints from fans both in the stadium and watching the livestream—the group’s agency, BigHit Music, has taken steps to rectify the experience. The company announced that fans who purchased the initial livestream will be granted free access to a delayed broadcast of the April 12 performance, which is set to air on April 19, 2026.
