JustUpdateOnline.com – Singapore, Nxera, the specialized data center division of the Singtel Group, has officially inaugurated a cutting-edge facility in Singapore designed to meet the escalating needs of artificial intelligence (AI), cloud services, and high-performance computing.

The newly launched site, designated as DC Tuas, introduces 58MW of power capacity specifically configured for AI applications. This addition elevates Nxera’s total operational footprint in Singapore to a substantial 120MW. Demonstrating the intense demand for such infrastructure, over 90% of the facility’s capacity was already committed to hyperscalers and corporate clients before the doors even opened.

Advanced Cooling and Hyperconnectivity

Spanning eight stories and covering 120,000 square feet, DC Tuas stands out for its technological innovations. It features the region’s most extensive implementation of direct-to-chip liquid cooling. This sophisticated thermal management system is significantly more efficient at dissipating heat than traditional air-cooling methods, allowing the center to support high-density computing tasks.

Beyond its cooling capabilities, the facility serves as a critical nexus for global connectivity. It is currently the only data center in Singapore integrated with a subsea cable landing station. This unique configuration provides tenants with immediate access to international and domestic fiber networks, drastically reducing latency and enhancing the reliability of mission-critical digital services.

A Milestone for Regional AI Innovation

Bill Chang, CEO of Nxera and Singtel’s Digital InfraCo unit, highlighted the importance of this development in the context of the region’s technological evolution. He remarked that the facility marks a significant step in supporting AI advancements within Singapore. Chang noted that as data center space remains a premium in the local market, the ability to host power-intensive AI workloads sustainably has become a strategic necessity.

Commitment to Environmental Excellence

Sustainability was a core focus during the development of DC Tuas. The building has been awarded the Green Mark Platinum certification, a prestigious environmental standard recognized by Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority and the Infocomm Media Development Authority. To minimize its carbon footprint, the site incorporates:

  • Integrated solar power arrays.
  • Systems for harvesting rainwater.
  • Advanced water recovery and condensate reuse technology.

The project’s green credentials helped it secure a US$506 million (S$643 million) green loan in early 2025. This financing was provided by a group of leading financial institutions, including UOB, OCBC, DBS, HSBC, and Standard Chartered.

Future Expansion Plans

The opening of DC Tuas is a central component of Singtel Digital InfraCo’s broader mission to establish a comprehensive digital infrastructure network across the Asia-Pacific region. This strategy encompasses subsea connectivity, data centers, and advanced digital services.

Nxera is already looking toward its next phase of growth, with additional AI-optimized facilities expected to go live in Johor, Malaysia, and Batam, Indonesia, during the latter half of 2026. The company anticipates that its total capacity—including operational sites and those in development—will surge from 200MW in 2026 to more than 400MW in the medium term.
