JustUpdateOnline.com – In a strategic move to modernize its logistics infrastructure, Singapore’s leading super-app, Grab, has finalized the purchase of Infermove, a China-based startup specializing in artificial intelligence and robotic solutions. This partnership is designed to refine the efficiency of both the initial and final stages of the delivery process through advanced automation.

By incorporating Infermove’s specialized technology, Grab aims to bolster its existing distribution network and secure its trajectory for future expansion. Despite the change in ownership, Infermove is set to maintain its operational autonomy under its current leadership team. Aaron Lu, the founder of the robotics firm, will transition into a role where he reports directly to Suthen Thomas, the Chief Technology Officer at Grab.

Established in 2021, the tech firm has carved out a niche in developing autonomous navigation systems tailored for unpredictable urban settings. Their portfolio features innovative sidewalk robots equipped with mechanical limbs for manipulation, alongside specialized personal mobility devices.

A key component of their technology is the "Rider Shadow System," which harvests data from electric scooters and other non-motorized vehicles used by couriers to train AI models. To navigate the complexities of modern delivery routes, Infermove utilizes a combination of reinforcement and imitation learning. This allows their machines to learn from human behavior and adapt dynamically to real-world obstacles.

Before joining forces with Grab, the startup had successfully secured over $3.3 million in capital from various backers, including the prominent venture firm Miracle Plus. This acquisition marks a significant step forward for Grab as it continues to invest in high-tech solutions to streamline its massive delivery ecosystem across Southeast Asia.
