These gatherings, representing a broad spectrum of social and political concerns, have prompted local authorities to implement flexible traffic management strategies to maintain order in the Senayan district.
Diverse Demands Under One Sky
At least four distinct coalitions have mobilized to voice their aspirations today, each carrying a unique set of objectives. The Aliansi Masyarakat Pati Bersatu (AMPB) traveled from Central Java to advocate for the immediate ratification of the Asset Seizure Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset). Beyond national legislation, the group is calling for a thorough investigation into alleged corruption involving local government projects in their home region.
Sharing the call for legislative reform, the Aliansi Masyarakat Depok Bersatu (AMDB) has also arrived on the scene. Their platform extends to more severe judicial measures, including the death penalty for corrupt officials, while also urging the government to address the rising costs of basic commodities.
Student Coalitions and Policy Oversight
A significant presence is expected from the Aliansi Gerakan Rakyat Menggugat (GERAM). Comprising 14 different student and civil society organizations, this coalition plans to launch its demonstration in the afternoon. With an estimated 1,000 participants, GERAM has prepared a 10-point manifesto.
Their demands are wide-ranging, focusing on government accountability, the evaluation of the "Free Nutritious Meal" (MBG) program, and broader reforms in the education and health sectors. The coalition has expressed a desire for a direct dialogue with the House leadership, indicating that a lack of engagement could lead to larger-scale mobilizations in the future.
Support with a Note for Improvement
In a different tone, the Relawan Madura Pengawal Program Presiden Prabowo (RMP4) has arrived to demonstrate support for the current administration’s flagship initiatives. While they back the "Free Nutritious Meal" program, their representatives noted that their presence is intended to encourage better management and logistical refinement of the project rather than its discontinuation.
Traffic Management and Security Measures
To accommodate the influx of demonstrators, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police have initiated situational traffic diversions. As of Thursday morning, sections of Jalan Gatot Subroto—specifically near Senayan Park leading toward the Parliament Building—were cordoned off using water barriers and temporary fencing.
Commuters traveling from Semanggi or Gelora Bung Karno toward West Jakarta are being redirected through Jalan Gerbang Pemuda. Alternatively, drivers are encouraged to utilize routes through Patal Senayan or Jalan Gelora to bypass the restricted zones.
Despite these localized closures, traffic flow in other parts of the city, such as the Cawang-Pancoran corridor and the Inner City Toll Road, remained relatively smooth during the morning rush.
Kombes Pol Firman Darmansyah, the Director of Traffic for Polda Metro Jaya, emphasized that the road closures are not permanent and will be adjusted based on the volume of the crowd. "The implementation of traffic engineering is strictly situational. If the flow remains manageable, we will prioritize keeping the roads open," he stated. Authorities have also reassured the public that the overall security situation in the capital remains stable and conducive.
