JustUpdateOnline.com – Jakarta, The Indonesian Presidential Palace has acknowledged receiving an invitation for President Prabowo Subianto to participate in the inaugural Board of Peace (BoP) assembly at the White House. Scheduled for February 19, 2026, this high-level meeting marks the first leadership summit for the international organization established under the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi verified the arrival of the formal request but noted that the President’s presence has not yet been finalized. Speaking at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, Prasetyo indicated that the administration would provide an official update once a decision regarding the visit is reached.

Indonesia’s involvement in the Board of Peace was formalized last month when President Prabowo signed the organization’s charter during a diplomatic trip to Switzerland. The upcoming Washington summit is expected to center on critical humanitarian and geopolitical issues, specifically focusing on securing a secondary ceasefire in Gaza and organizing a global fund to support the reconstruction of Palestinian territories.

Potential for Economic Milestone

While the primary focus of the invitation is the peace forum, the Indonesian government is eager to expand the scope of the potential visit. State Secretary Prasetyo mentioned that the administration hopes to utilize the trip to conclude a significant bilateral trade agreement. Specifically, Jakarta aims to finalize a reciprocal trade tariff deal with the United States during the same window.

Prasetyo remarked that while the government wishes to achieve both diplomatic and economic objectives, coordinating a formal sit-down between two world leaders involves complex logistical and scheduling challenges, even as negotiations progress.

Providing further clarity on the economic front, Airlangga Hartarto, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, stated that the groundwork for the trade accord is essentially finished. He revealed that the legal drafting of the agreement is approximately 90 percent complete. According to Airlangga, the remaining step is simply aligning the calendars of President Prabowo and President Trump for the official signing ceremony.
