This move comes shortly after her former spouse sought assistance from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI).
The visit, which occurred on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, was clarified by Komnas Perempuan officials as an initial dialogue. Irwan Setiawan, a commissioner at the agency, noted that the session was purely consultative. At this stage, no official report or formal legal complaint has been filed by the singer.
Chris Sam Siwu, representing Sarwendah, initiated the meeting request several days prior. The commission confirmed that they are currently in a "wait-and-see" position to determine if the consultation will escalate into a documented grievance. Irwan explained that the organization follows a strict four-step protocol for such matters: receiving a formal report, verification of facts, assessment of the situation, and finally, providing recommendations. Sarwendah’s case remains at the preliminary stage.
Her legal team emphasized that the visit was intended to find constructive resolutions to the ongoing family issues. Chris Sam Siwu stated that the objective was to engage in a productive discussion to navigate the complexities of her current situation, asserting that the intent was purely to find a path forward rather than to pursue negative outcomes.
The backdrop of this meeting involves a disagreement regarding the upbringing and welfare of their children. Ruben Onsu had previously approached the KPAI to voice concerns about his access to the children, who are presently residing with Sarwendah. His grievances included issues related to parental visitation rights, potential bullying, and his disapproval of the children’s involvement in TikTok live broadcasts.
While Ruben is utilizing child protection frameworks to address his concerns, Sarwendah appears to be approaching the situation through the lens of her rights as a mother and a woman.
